Why do some dogs cost more?

Not every dog requires the same amount of work. Different coat types require different grooming techniques, tools, products, and time.

Short-hair Breeds

Short-hair breeds generally require the least grooming time. These dogs usually need bathing, drying, nail trimming, ear cleaning, and light brushing because they have minimal coat maintenance.

Double-coated Breeds

Double-coated breeds require significantly more brushing and de-shedding to remove loose undercoat. Their dense coats also take much longer to dry, requiring additional time and specialized grooming techniques.

Curly-hair Breeds

Curly-hair breeds require regular haircuts and continuous coat maintenance. Their coats tangle and mat easily, making thorough brushing, careful detangling, clipping, scissoring, and longer drying times necessary to maintain a healthy coat.

Long-hair Breeds

Long-hair breeds generally require the most coat maintenance. Their coats often need extensive brushing, detangling, trimming, careful drying, and detailed finishing work to keep the coat clean, healthy, and free of mats.

Dog Size Also Affects Pricing

Larger dogs require:

* More grooming time
* More shampoo and conditioner
* More water
* More electricity for drying
* More physical lifting and handling
* More wear on professional equipment

These additional costs are reflected in our pricing.

Our Commitment

Our goal is to provide safe, high-quality mobile grooming with no hidden fees. Every dog receives individualized care, professional attention, and enough time to complete the groom safely and comfortably.

⚠️ Large, Powerful & High-Maintenance Breeds – Safety Policy

⚠️ Not Accepted Breeds – Safety & Business Policy

At Marco’s Paws Mobile Grooming, the safety of your dog and our groomer is our highest priority.

Because mobile grooming is performed inside a limited workspace, we do not accept the following breeds.

Reason for Our Policy

The breeds listed above are not automatically considered dangerous. Our policy is based on safety, grooming time, coat type, and the limitations of a mobile grooming van.

* Large and powerful breeds may not be accepted because their size, strength, or behavior can create safety concerns in a confined mobile grooming environment.

* Poodles, Cocker Spaniels are not accepted because their coats typically require significantly more time, specialized styling, extensive brushing, and additional grooming care than our mobile grooming schedule allows.

For the safety of everyone involved, we reserve the right to decline or discontinue service if a dog displays aggressive behavior, cannot be safely handled, or creates an unsafe grooming environment.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we work to provide a safe, comfortable, and stress-free grooming experience for every dog.

These breeds are not automatically considered dangerous. However, due to their size, strength, coat type, grooming requirements, or the limited space inside a mobile grooming van, Marco’s Paws Mobile Grooming has chosen not to accept these breeds as part of our business policy.

These are generally considered long-coated breeds that require more brushing, de-matting, drying, and grooming time.

What is a double coat?
A double-coated dog has:

1. A soft, dense undercoat (for insulation)
2. A longer outer coat (guard hairs) that protects from weather and dirt

These breeds usually require more brushing, de-shedding, and drying time, which is why grooming prices are often higher.

What is a Short-Hair Breed?

A short-hair breed is a dog with a coat that is naturally short, smooth, and close to the body. These dogs usually require less brushing and coat maintenance than long-haired breeds.

Short-hair breed dogs typically have:

* Short, smooth fur
* Less frequent brushing needs
* Faster drying after baths
* Fewer tangles and mats
* Lower grooming maintenance
* Regular shedding (some breeds shed heavily despite short hair)

FAQ – Short-hair Breeds & Weight Information

Short-hair breeds have short, smooth coats that are easy to maintain. They still need regular bathing, nail trimming, ear cleaning, and brushing to remove loose hair and keep their skin and coat healthy. While short-haired dogs are less likely to develop mats, many still shed throughout the year.

Before your appointment, please provide any veterinary records or information that shows your dog’s current weight and health condition. This helps me prepare the correct grooming service

and pricing category for your dog.

What is a curly-hair breed?

Curly-hair breeds are dogs with naturally curly, wavy, or tightly curled coats that require regular brushing, professional grooming, and routine haircuts to prevent mats and keep their coat healthy.

Curly-hair breed dogs typically have:

* Curly or wavy coats that continuously grow
* Regular brushing needs (often several times per week)
* Professional grooming every 4–8 weeks
* Higher risk of matting if not maintained
* Longer drying and styling time than short-haired breeds
* More scissoring and coat shaping during grooming
* Lower shedding in many breeds (though not all)

Nail Clipping or Grinding Only

This service includes nail clipping or nail grinding only.

Not Included:

* No bath
* No brushing
* No drying
* No haircut
* No ear cleaning
* No other grooming services

Weight-Based Pricing

Prices increase with larger dogs because they require more time, strength, safe handling, and physical effort from one groomer. Giant breeds may also require additional safety precautions.

Safety Policy

Marco’s Paws Mobile Grooming is operated by one groomer only. For everyone’s safety, only dogs that are calm and safely manageable by one groomer will be accepted.

The service may be stopped or canceled immediately if a dog:

* Becomes aggressive or attempts to bite.
* Cannot be safely restrained or handled.
* Is excessively fearful, anxious, or stressed.
* Poses a safety risk to itself or the groomer.

Safety Cancellation & Payment Policy

If the service is canceled after the appointment has begun because the dog cannot be safely handled by one groomer, a $60 service fee will apply to cover travel time, fuel, scheduling, and the appointment time reserved.

If the client refuses to pay the required $60 service fee, Marco’s Paws Mobile Grooming reserves the right to permanently decline future appointments and will no longer provide services to that client.
